Frequently Asked Questions

Care instructions

I recommend hand washing pieces to prolong their life. However, my pieces are tested in the dishwasher, microwave, and oven. Never take a cold or frozen pot and put directly in the oven. Avoid heat shock. Pottery is still breakable, so care while using and washing needs to be considered! I often tell people not to stack as that will cause breakage!

Gift wrapping and packaging

My pieces are ALWAYS double boxed. I use a combination of new and recycled bubble, kraft paper, and boxes to ensure safe delivery to your doorstep! This does not always mean it has a gift box, but mugs and candles will be shipped in a nice gift box.

Custom, personalized orders, wedding registries, and wholesale

*I am not taking customs at this time*

I only make work within my style. I can personalize mugs with initials, nicknames, etc.

Custom orders will take longer than my normal processing times, now that I am a full time mom and part time potter they may be even longer. After we agree on your order I will make you a custom listing for you to purchase. I do require payment in full to begin custom orders. It will take at least 6-8 weeks, but sometimes may take considerably longer for a larger order or if a glaze error occurs. It takes time to create a custom order, as pottery is a lengthy process please have patience with me during this process.

Wedding registries: I will make you your own special listing.

Wholesale: I work case by case.

Other questions...

Can I order in a different glaze color?

I can do a combination of my glazes on any piece, but I cannot grab a color out of the air that you do not see in my shop. For example, you want a specific color of orangey-red however that is not possible for my shop. Glazes are chemical recipes. I mix glazes in a 5 gallon bucket and use them time and time again. If you see a mug in one color but not the style you want, I can swap glazes for another style mug.

If I get a set will they be the exact same size and color?

Short answer, no. I throw each piece individually by starting with the same weight of clay. As the wheel spins I center, pull, and do finishing touches to each piece before it's trimmed and has a handle pulled and added if it is a mug. Each piece will vary slightly. One may be shorter, one may be fatter by a little bit. It is hand formed, not formed in a mold. They are dipped in a bucket to glaze and fired. Slight changes in thickness or kiln placement and temperature in the kiln can create slightly different results. It is handmade and I hope my customers will embrace the small variation.

Will my mug burn my hand if I put it in the microwave for a minute?

No. If you put your mug in the microwave for a reasonable amount of time (1-2 minutes), it will not burn your hand. I use a stoneware body which is fired to approximately 2232 degrees Fahrenheit (1222 degrees Celsius), so it does not absorb the heat in the microwave like lower fired bodies of clay.

If I send you a picture of a mug, can you make one exactly like it?

No. I have my own throwing style and my own set of glazes. Even if your previous piece was handmade that does not mean I can make a replica nor would I be interested in copying someone else's work. If you want me to make a mug that is maybe a little different shape than any I have listed, message me to see if I can.

Do my glazes contain lead or barium?

No, none of my glazes contain lead or barium.
